SpecRider is built as a local-first desktop app. The app reads and writes Markdown plans in folders you choose on your own machine. SpecRider does not require a hosted account, hosted sync service, or cloud workspace to use the core app.
Desktop App Data
Plan content, comments, local settings, and workspace metadata stay on your device unless you choose to move them somewhere else, such as a Git remote, file sync service, shared drive, or agent tool.
SpecRider may open files, run Git reads, and launch terminals inside folders you choose. Those actions happen in the local workspace context you grant to the app.
Website Analytics
The SpecRider website uses self-hosted analytics at analytics.805software.com to understand aggregate traffic, page views, referrers, and browser or device information. We use this to maintain the site and improve documentation.
The website analytics do not receive your local plan files or desktop app workspace content.
Downloads And Updates
SpecRider downloads are hosted through GitHub Releases. When you download an installer, view the repository, or follow a GitHub link, GitHub receives request information under GitHub’s own terms and privacy policy.
If you use Git, a Git remote, Discord, or an agent integration with SpecRider, those tools and services handle data according to their own policies.
